Our History

Precisionmatics was formed in 1970 , Lead by Laslo Pustay. Laslo emigrated from Hungary with his wife Ilona in 1956 when Russia invaded his country also known as the Hungarian Revolution. After escaping across the border of Hungary into neighboring Austria, they boarded a US military plane and arrived at Camp Kilmer in New Jersey on Christmas Eve. Through the Catholic Charities program and the help of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located in the Village of West Winfield,Laslo and Ilona were brought to West Winfield, NY and settled there.

Laslo Pustay started working for a machine shop on Helmer Avenue in West Winfield but things took a turn when that company closed it’s doors. Laslo’s vision for technology and his desire for the American dream motivated Laslo to come up with a plan for sucess. With the building of his previous employer still vacant Laslo was able to purchase that building and start his own company calling it, Precisionmatics. Laslo was later accompanied by his two sons, Steve and John, as partners in the business.

Precisionmatics grew the business in the aerospace segment but also expanded to specialized industrial, connector and firearms industries. With the main concentration in aerospace Precisionmatics began investing more and more into CNC machines which allowed them to manufacture all machine parts with high repeatability and more automatic operation and quicker reset times for reoccuring parts. Many small building additions were made over the years at the Helmer Ave location as the company kept growing because of their high quality parts, customer service and competitive pricing. The decision to build a new facility to better service existing customers and grow the business was made  and ground was broken to begin the build of a new facility.

Currently located at 675 US HWY 20, the new 54000 sq ft state of the art building was completed in July 2017 and is considered one of the top machine shop facilities in New York State. Shortly after the new building, Laslo, Steve and John added another partner, Andrew Pustay. Andrew, Son of John, is a 2nd generation owner and has been working at Precisionmatics since 2005. Sadly, Laslo was layed to rest in early 2020 but his dream still lives on with Steve, John and Andrew.

Today Precisomatics strives to bring the latest technological advancements to it’s shop to stay competitive for all industries.
